FlingGolf Demo Day Scheduled for Friday, April 30
HANOVER, PA – South Hills Golf Club is introducing FlingGolf, a new, alternative way to enjoy golf courses. It uses a specially designed FlingStick from New Swarm Sports and a regulation golf ball. Instead of hitting the ball with a club, players use a single FlingStick to shape every shot from tee to hole. One stick for the tee, fairway AND green.
What is FlingGolf?
FlingGolf can be played alongside regular golfers, making it appealing for beginners, families or frustrated golfers. The pace of play tends to be a bit faster than regular golf as there’s no need to switch clubs during the course of play. The patented FlingStick is an all-in-one piece of equipment enabling players to fling the ball for distance and putt the ball for play on the green.
FlingGolf was created and is promoted by New Swarm Sports, based in Amesbury, Massachusetts. It is a sport in which members of all ages and athletic capabilities can engage and enjoy the course. And because it can be played alongside traditional golf, even in the same foursome, FlingGolf is bringing friends and families out to play together.
Kick Off FlingGolf Demo Day and First Timer Special
“We’re excited to bring FlingGolf to South Hills this season and look forward to attracting players to the course,” said Rob Ehrhart, Course GM. “As an introductory we have FlingSticks available for use for no charge, $3 off the round and a FREE small bucket of balls for first timers. Picking up the sport is pretty easy to learn and throughout the season we will be providing some demo days and clinics on our range. Our Kickoff FlingGolf Demo Day on April 30 at 5 p.m. with a rain date of May 1, so come out and give it a try!”
FlingGolf continues to grow in popularity on courses all over the world. It’s easy to play and easy for course owners to implement as no course modification is needed. Check out FlingGolf.com to find out more about the sport, learn some fling techniques and shop for the latest FlingSticks.
About New Swarm FlingGolf
New Swarm Sports is the creator of FlingGolf – a young sport played seamlessly on any golf course where players use the company’s patented FlingStick to hurl a golf ball and shape every shot from the tee box to the cup. There are no changes necessary for course managers and PGA Pros, and being family friendly, FlingGolf can be played in the same foursome as golfers. Having been played on over 1000 courses world-wide, FlingGolf is wooing another generation of players and offering additional sources of revenue to golf courses every day. New Swarm’s FlingStick is revitalizing golf courses with a new generation of players, just as snowboarding revolutionized ski resorts in the 1990s. To learn more, visit FlingGolf.com.
South Hills Golf Club course will be closed to ALL PLAY from Monday, April 5th to Thursday, April 8th due to construction of new parking areas and road ways. The closing is due to safety concern for all.
The Pro Shop will be able to take phone calls from 8am to 3pm during the closure for any questions or for tourney signups including the Harry O’Rear Memorial, scheduled for April 11.
Golf course will reopen Friday, April 9th.
The construction of the new building is taking off, although will not be opening with the spring target as originally planned. Completion is now aimed for sometime in August due to delays with weather and COVID.
Once complete the facility will be open to the public (golfers AND non-golfers) for a full bar and restaurant. The venue will have space to host weddings, meetings, parties, and other event.

As South Hills Golf Club begins demolition on the old building and works toward a new building set to house a bar/restaurant/events venue, they are looking for a name.
“We have worked hard to create a concept that will capitalize on our beautiful scenery, complement our golf course and provide a fun dining experience with great food and libations,” said Kathryn Hoar, South Hills Owner. “We thought the residents of the Hanover-area would have some fun ideas as we search for the right name for our venue.”
In order to enter the contest, email your idea to email@example.com. South Hills will not take ideas posted on social media. E-mail entries only.
If South Hills chooses your name, the winner will receive a gift certificate to enjoy as they please…perhaps as one of the first to sample the “Pour Your Own Beer Wall!”
The new bar/restaurant/events venue launches in Spring 2021 with Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC), owners of Hanover-area’s culinary staple The Altland House partnered to manage food and beverage.

DEMOLITION OF OLD SOUTH HILLS BUILDING BEGINNING AT END OF MONTH, AUCTION PREVIEW SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18
South Hills Golf Club is set to demolish their current building and construct a brand-new facility that will house a restaurant and events space. South Hills has partnered with the Hospitality Management Corporation (HMC), owners of Hanover-area’s culinary staple The Altland House to manage food and beverage. All items in the clubhouse and kitchen will be up for grabs at a public auction on Thursday, October 22 at 9 a.m. sharp. A preview day is scheduled for Sunday, October 18 from 1 to 3 p.m.
South Hills Golf Club has been focused on refining a great golf experience for the residents of Hanover and the surrounding areas, including adding a new putting green near the driving range. The launch of the new facility is the culmination of a lot of planning and effort to provide a place everyone will enjoy whether you golf or not.
“We are so excited about the project,” enthused Kathryn Hoar, owner of South Hills Golf Club. “We’ve worked diligently to design a facility that capitalizes on our location and scenery and complements the golf course. Working with the HMC has been a very collaborative process and we can’t wait to share the final result with the public. It will be the kind of place you’ll want to visit with your family whether you’re a golfer or not! Great food, beautiful views, and live music year-round!
The public auction will be conducted by PA OnSite Auction Company to clear out the building for demolition. Everything from kitchen equipment to furniture to the fireplace mantle is available. Click here more detailed info on the auction.
South Hills will be open for golf during the construction and asks that you bear with them through the duration of the project. A temporary trailer building will house the ProShop for the essentials. Portable toilets will also be available.
The new restaurant/bar will be the ninth South Central PA location operated under HMC and is slated for a Spring 2021 opening. The location will seat 125 and will feature the Hanover-area’s first Self Pour Beer Wall. Customers will enjoy the freedom to sample and refill at their leisure, spending more time socializing, less time waiting. Menu will consist of Classic Pub Fare with Chef-influenced specials.
The Wedding & Event venue will be available to host 10 to 200 people. The space will be the perfect place to hold everything from weddings to golf outings to corporate meetings and events.
“Hospitality Management is excited to have the opportunity to bring our culinary skills in both the restaurant and the catering of events to South Hanover,” said Ryan Haugh, Owner of HMC. “South Hills Golf Course has a long-standing tradition of quality golf in the area. We look forward to providing great food in a casual atmosphere and introducing Hanover to its first “Pour Your Own” beer wall.”
